All Toby wanted was to find his way home and be with his family. Sadly, all that family wanted to do was get rid of him. Padding along day and night for 12 long miles, when this brave little kitty finally got “home,” he met with rejection and heartbreak.
Toby’s family had given him away to a friend when they were moving. Longing to be with his loved ones, Toby escaped and made the long trek back home. When he got there, his family decided for a second time that they didn’t want him. Sadly, they took him to an animal shelter and told the shelter they wanted him euthanized.
There’s a happy ending though — the shelter didn’t want to euthanize this brave kitty, so they contacted the Wakefield ASPCA.
The kind folk at the ASPCA shared Toby’s story and a week later, on Friday the 13th no less, Toby was adopted by a new loving family, who warmly welcomed him into their home.
“Toby was adopted on Friday the 13th! His lucky day indeed. He was discarded by his first family and now truly has a forever home. He has three new siblings (one feline and two human) and a cat-savvy mom to show him what a loving family is really like,” the SPCA said.
Some people should not be allowed to have pets
That Toby walked all that way to get home to his “family,” despite the fact they gave him away, only to be tossed away by them again, is heartbreaking. Its wonderful that Toby now has a home with a family that will love and care for him!
Here’s Toby doing what pets should do — play, have fun and…be loved!
