Ahh, those confounding millennials! We know they prefer to communicate with other people by electronic methods and not face-to-face and we know they’re embracing witchcraft and astrology over traditional religion. So, guess what else millennials prefer?
As it turns out, the millennial generation also prefers communism and socialism over democracy. According to a new survey from the ‘Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation,’ one-in-two millennials say they would rather live in a communist or socialist country, than a free democracy. So at least 50% of millennials prefer captivity over freedom? Equally alarming is that over 22% of those millennials surveyed, say that Josef Stalin, Karl Marx, Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un, are “heroes.”
Expressing concern, Marion Smith, the Executive Director of the organization, said “Millennials now make up the largest generation in America, and we’re seeing some deeply worrisome trends. Millennials are increasingly turning away from capitalism and toward socialism and even communism as a viable alternative.”
Millennials may need to reconsider their views however, because at is turns out, a majority of them were clueless as to what communism and socialism really means — 71% could not define communism with any historical accuracy and couldn’t really explain what being a communist or socialist means.
Marion Smith added that this ignorance of communism’s violent and brutal history, proved that there was “vast historical illiteracy across the country,” as a result of “the systemic failure of our education system to teach students about the genocide, destruction, and misery caused by communism since the Bolshevik Revolution one hundred years ago.”
So Millennials, you reject face-to-face human interaction, you embrace astrology and witchcraft and now, you reject freedom in favor of oppression — do you really think these are wise choices?
I admire the millennial generation on many issues. They want to change the world and they care about the health of our planet, the less fortunate and protecting the environment — fantastic! But clearly, many, or at least those polled, aren’t aware that under communism, poverty flourishes, while the ruling ‘elite’ grow rich. As for human rights and freedom, I guess they’re not aware that right now in China, the government brutally censors and controls information — so no freely surfing the net for you under communism. And as for the planet, communist regimes are notorious for putting the health of the environment last in their list of priorities — if they give it any consideration at all.
Change is good — when it’s warranted and positive. Change, just for the sake of change, is not what we need. So dear millennials, if you want to help the poor, save the planet and be able to surf the web freely, you may want to bring about change by first having a plan that is centered on positivity — you may also want to use your beloved internet to learn why communism has failed all across the world.
