Even though constant use of technology has become commonplace and in a way, even “normalized,” technology addiction is a very serious problem — one that often goes unrecognized due to the fact that everyone seems to be doing it.
Adults aren’t immune to technology addiction, but it’s our young that we should be most concerned with. This video clip is a real eye-opener, so make sure to have your volume up a bit.
We’re allowing ourselves to be suckered in to the false belief that smartphones, computers, tablets and other gadgets will make our life easier and thus, better. This is a fallacy and as more research and evidence comes to light, we’re seeing that they in fact, have made life more complicated and are actually making us stupid.
What’s the solution?
Simple. Put them down. Use a basic cell phone. If we’re becoming addicted to technology, the best solution is to limit our use of these gadgets and instead, live life the way we were meant to. Getting kids up and out the door to play, explore and interact, is probably a much healthier lifestyle than having a smartphone appended to their bodies.
