Love is so incredibly powerful and healing — and miraculously, its free to all and in infinite supply. We write about love a great deal on this blog and for good reason — love is the foundation for almost all wonderful things.
Why are messages and stories of hope and optimism so absent in our culture? We certainly hear enough of the negative, so why aren’t we reading and hearing more about the positive? A good question and one that I know many of us ask regularly, but alas, its one that has a very complicated answer.
Growing up I was told that having a purpose was vital. Having a reason to get out of bed in the morning, no matter how small the reason, was essential to being happy and contented. That advice was one of the most important things I could have learned.
Wouldn’t life be grand if we could say “abracadabra,” snap our fingers and make everything right in the world? If only it were that easy. Positivity doesn’t work that way either and the same applies — to be more positive, we have to work at it to make it stick.
A common question heard asked these days is “what has happened to civility?” Indeed, what has happened to it? Where is the courtesy and respect we once afforded to friends and stranger alike? Is it now lost forever, only to be replaced with open hostility? Is a state of agitation our new normal?
In the movie Wall Street, Michael Douglas’s character makes a speech in which he says “greed is good…greed works.” His premise being that he is greedy and that it’s okay to be greedy for more…more money, power and fame. Of course, he is categorically incorrect, as most of us already know.
Hope is something we all cling to and rightfully so, because as the saying goes, “hope springs eternal.” Hope is an awesome and very potent life force that inspires, empowers and enables us to face life’s challenges. After all, without hope, what would man’s future look like?
What if sometimes, we’re our own dream crusher? Never let anyone stop you from pursuing your goals and dreams. And just as important, never tell yourself you can’t do it! So if you’re worried you’re “too old,” or that it’s “too late,” stop. Be strong, be bold, be brave and above all, be happy and pursue your dreams.
The news should come with a warning label: “Watch this program at your own risk.” Its a very sad commentary on today’s news media that we have to question whether what we’re watching/reading has been manufactured.
