We’ve posted a number of articles recently about the rise in dishonesty — half-truths, conspiracy theories and intentionally spread disinformation. We’ve covered this, because we can’t ever claim to be good or positive people if we purposely spread lies. Dishonesty, is a decidedly negative, dark trait.
It’s safe to say that one of the chief causes/sources of this increasing deceit, is politics. Americans have become almost feverishly obsessed with all things political and they do so at a risk…politics, is inherently based on some form of deceit. For example, a politician will publicly vow that they will vote a certain way, knowing full well that they have no intention of doing so. Or, a candidate for political office will spread lies and innuendo about their opponent to gain votes, even though they know what they’re saying to be false. So politics is a big source of the current era of intentional deceit and 24 x 7 news and social media are the avenues in which it spreads almost instantly.
A post written by a Teacher is making its way across social media and it directly addresses some of the disinformation and blatant lies being spread about our nation’s education system. The post is direct and also refreshing, because it challenges those lies, setting the record straight. Unfortunately, I don’t have the post author’s name, but I wish I did, so I could thank them. Here is that post:
For a group of people who likely haven’t stepped foot on an elementary school campus in decades, there seem to be some strong and very misinformed feelings about what goes on there. Kindergarteners aren’t learning about sexual intercourse, Second Graders aren’t being encouraged to explore different genders, and Fifth Graders aren’t being pitted against each other in some sort of guilt-inducing race war. That’s utter nonsense, and the people peddling it are lying to you for votes and ratings.
Instead of raging over the vile hogwash you are being fed, I’d encourage you to make better use of your time by volunteering an hour of your week reading with struggling students, becoming a business partner to help fund different school projects, or signing up to be a substitute teacher once a month. Find your local elementary school and start putting effort into getting to know the staff and students there. We aren’t evil liberals indoctrinating the neighborhood kids with some leftist agenda; we’re real people with big hearts who choose to spend every day working with kids so they better comprehend what they read, explore the world around them, ask questions so they can more fully understand what they see, and live effectively in a community. We tie shoelaces, give hugs to sad seven-year-olds, talk through conflict between fourth-graders, and provide wet paper towels to soothe boo-boos Kindergarteners swear exist but we can’t actually see. We laugh with our kids, eat lunch with them, and give them a feeling of comfort and stability many are missing at home. Sometimes we might even provide the first smile or kind word they’ve gotten that day. And yes, we occasionally lose our cool and raise our voices because the little boogers have gotten on our last nerve and we’re human, for goodness sake.
But mostly we love.
Stop believing the lies, quit demonizing us, and let us do our jobs. Carve out some time in the coming weeks and and make a visit so you can see what really happens in these weird and beautiful little spaces.

Consider her words of “demonizing us.” That is precisely what so many people are doing these days — they refuse to accept truth and fact, so they deny, spread conspiracy theories and demonize those that are simply telling a truth they can’t handle. How dire and dark is that? To knowingly spread malicious lies and create anger and hatred is a sin and a very negative and dreadful thing to do.
Happiness and positivity can only come when we release the negativity hiding inside. Toxic emotions and habits are a serious drain on our mental and physical health, so the sooner we rid ourselves of them, the better.
“There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.” – Proverbs 6:16-19
“He said to him, “Which ones?” And Jesus said, “You shall not murder, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness…” – Matthew 19:1
