We Are Here To Be Ambassadors, Not Enforcers Of The Law

https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100063484929929Have you ever wondered what is meant in 2 Corinthians that we are called to be Christ’s Ambassadors?  Its a very important calling and one which deserves careful and full thought. After all, its a very important role.

2 Corinthians 5:20 tells us this: “Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.”

In essence, it is calling on all of us to help spread the message and teachings of Jesus and to also act like him as best we can — Paul is sharing that each and every Christian should live and act as Christ directs us, in order to share the precious message of  of reconciliation with God through faith in Jesus Christ. We are not told to go out in the world to judge and condemn, but rather, to spread the Gospel of love, faith, compassion, kindness, generosity, forgiveness and repentance.

The role of Christ’s Ambassadors would most certainly be to behave as He teaches and to speak and act with love and kindness — since we are all sinners, we all fall short in the eyes of God. However, as Christ’s Ambassadors, we should share the miraculous message that we can be saved by having faith because of and in the fact, that Jesus took our place on the Cross — Jesus died for all of our sins.

I asked if you’d ever wondered what it means to be Christ’s Ambassadors because I sure have. Its important that we ponder and pray on Bible passages we may not be clear on, so that we can get it right. Ultimately, even if we misunderstand, asking God for guidance and forgiveness for that misunderstanding is important. I just have always known in my heart and soul that we are not here to be cruel, judgmental and condemning — since not one of us is without fault and sin, how can we?  We are here to help bring us all closer to God through our Savior Jesus — God does not hold the sins of those who come to Him through faith in Christ against them and that is what the world should hear from those who are in Christ.

I pray that all Christians try our best to be better Ambassadors by forgiving, loving, helping and uplifting — the message of Jesus is not one of fear and condemnation, its one of of joyful and miraculous salvation — its one of hope and faith.

“Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.” – 1 John 4:7

“Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.  – Matthew 7:1-5
