The Christian faith is centered on love, kindness and generosity — generosity in every sense of the word, including attitude and behavior. When one reads the Bible, you quickly see the light and hope.
The Book of Psalms, is in the Old Testament, and while there are different types of Psalms, one important purpose is to offer mankind insight and wisdom. Its this wisdom that we can all benefit from, because it helps to guide us on what our words, deeds and actions should be.
One such Psalms is 82:3-4, which helps us with the following guidance:
“Defend the weak and the Fatherless. Uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed. Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the wicked.”
This is such a beautiful passage, because it helps us know that in our life on this earth, we should always be ready to help our fellow man who may be less fortunate, lonely, oppressed or vulnerable. We are guided to always defend them, advocate for them and to help then improve their circumstances.
1 Corinthians 13:13 tells us: “And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.” Faith, hope and charity being central to our faith and the charity, being every sense of the word “generosity” — to help, inspire, uplift and support our fellow man, especially if they are weak, alone, scared or vulnerable.
Christianity is a faith of light and hope. I think its important that at least once per day, Christians take some time and seek out the messages and teachings of light and hope in the Bible, and focus on those — to be the good, caring children God wants us to be. Focusing on how the Bible helps us to be better people who put faith, hope and charity first, puts us on the right path.
