The Invaluable Message Of The Sermon On The Mount

https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100063484929929The teachings of Jesus are the most valuable lessons for all mankind. His love for us and His miraculous lessons are beautiful and what He teaches, is meant to keep us on the right path. They are truly wonderful and a must read.

One of the most important and incredible sermons that Jesus shared, is of course, The Sermon on the Mount. Delivered over 2,000 years ago, the implications of His words are beyond measure and are as relevant today as they were then – perhaps even more so.

The sermon put a significant emphasis on forgiveness, being humble, generous, kind and faithful, with man being taught to choose God’s way of love. Choosing God’s way will lead to an everlasting life of peace, harmony and happiness.

The Beatitudes

When Jesus saw all the crowds gathered, He went up on a mountainside with His Disciples following Him and Jesus began to teach them, and the Beatitudes are a significant part of that teaching:

The Beatitudes

Jesus said:

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

How absolutely beautiful. The Beatitudes show God’s infinite love for us. Jesus taught these valuable lessons so that all man could learn and live a life that is filled with goodness and peace.

What one notices in the Sermon on the Mount, is that as always, it is devoid of cruelty or selfishness of any kind – God is telling us in that in no uncertain terms, man is meant to love one another – to be good to each other and to help one another. I feel it deep within me that once we accept that we are not meant to judge and condemn harshly, but rather, to help and uplift our fellow man, it takes a lot of pressure off. God is in control. He doesn’t need our help. God tells us what to do and how to think and behave and Jesus brought that message directly to us.

Today, I pray that Christians all across the world put away cruelty, selfishness, anger, jealousy and pettiness and in their place, actively take up love, kindness, hope, compassion and tolerance.

“A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.” – Proverbs 11:25

“God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.” – Hebrews 6:10

“Give to the one who begs from you, and do not refuse the one who would borrow from you.” – Matthew 5:42

“Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.” – Colossians 3:13
