Do Good Anyway

https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100063484929929Each day, we are given new opportunities. Opportunities to be positive. Chances to be happy. Occasions to be kind. And also, reasons to be good. Goodness after all, is one of the goals we should all reach toward.

Mother Teresa was world renown as a good, kind and peaceful person. She gave of herself every chance she had. She helped the poor, fed the hungry, ministered to the vulnerable and so much more. We of course may not all be able to live as good and wholesome a life as Mother Teresa, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try to every single day.

There is a be wonderful and inspirational poem that has made its fresh rounds on social media and its a powerful reminder that each and every day, we should strive to be good — to do good. We must try to do our best and be our best. To love and to help. I hope you’ll find it as motivating and empowering as I have. This beautiful poem hung on Mother Teresa’s wall:

People are often unreasonable, illogical and self centered;
Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;
Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you’ve got anyway.

You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and your God;
It was never between you and them anyway.

Kent M. Keith

The last lines: “…in the final analysis, it is between you and your God…” Its so true — its not between us and them, its between each of us and God. And God wants us to be good and kind and to turn the other cheek. There’s a reason why Mother Teresa would have this hanging on her wall and that tells me that we should as well.
