In WWII, the British took the phrase “Keep calm and carry on” to a whole new level. It wasn’t just something written on a poster or a biscuit tin — it was a vow they made and valiantly, they did indeed carry on.
It’s easy to forget that there are a lot of good people in this world, especially when the bad ones get so much attention. Sometimes, I find myself asking where all the good people have gone. Then I realize they’re all around us.
Hero worship has reached fever pitch and it raises the question: just who or what is it that people are holding up as role models? The people that we may look up to today, are very much different than the role models of yesteryear.
Other people don’t determine our thoughts, actions and reactions…we do. If we have a high emotional intelligence (EI), then most likely, we have greater control and balance with our temperament.
Each day, we wake up with choices to make. We can choose to be in a bad mood, or we can choose to look on the bright side. Of course, making choices isn’t always easy, but that’s the thing about choices and choosing wisely…it can be very difficult.
Instigators are some of the most evil and manipulative people on earth. These are the people who, with no reason at all, stir up trouble and fan the flames of chaos. They are to be avoided at all times.
Today, with our access to almost instant intelligence, we’re drowning in information, but starving for knowledge. We know a lot, or think we do, but at the end of the day, we are learning very little.
Ever hear the expression “one bad apple ruins the bunch?” Of course you have, because people have been using that adage for centuries. But what exactly is a bad apple and does it really ruin the whole bunch?
I happen to find positive affirmations to be very helpful and reassuring. But did you know that many positive affirmations are also rooted in the Christian faith and are especially inspiring?
