I think a lot of people are a bit intimidated by reading the Bible. A lot of passages can be confusing or unclear to us and sadly, many people have intentionally twisted the words of the Bible to prop up their own agenda. This causes some to avoid reading the Bible.
The secret to living a happy and content life, may not be a secret after all. We know that happiness is a choice and not a destination, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t things we need to do and ways we need to live our life — and most of them, are actually quite simple.
Most of us are acutely aware of the old expression “a Wolf in Sheep’s clothing.” The gist of that adage is that there are those among us who will seem like Sheep, but inwardly, are actually ravenous and dangerous Wolves. The Bible covers this caution in significant detail.
In the movie Wall Street, Michael Douglas’s character makes a speech in which he says “greed is good…greed works.” His premise being that he is greedy and that it’s okay to be greedy for more…more money, power and fame. Of course, he is categorically incorrect, as most of us already know.
It’s the dawn of a new year and that means wonderful new possibilities and a fresh start to make our dreams come true. Many of us have one common hope for the new year — to be happy. You might have noted I didn’t say to “find” happiness, but to “be” happy and that’s because there is a huge difference.
Christmas is truly a magical time of the year. As we celebrate the birth of Christ, our hearts are filled with joy, peace and harmony. During this time, we are kinder, gentler, more generous and something miraculous happens to us. Wouldn’t it be nice if we could carry that spirit of Christmas through the whole year?
Love is truly miraculous and that is undeniable. If given and received more freely, love can indeed conquer all. With love not just in our hearts, but actually leading our heart, imagine the good we could do in this world? We’re blessed that love is in abundance and now, we just need to share it outwards.
The Parables of Jesus are some of the most precious and vitally important lessons for man to learn. The Parables are told by Jesus in a simplified, relatable manner so that their meaning is easily recognized — their spiritual and moral message is however, extremely profound.
